Several People In Custody After Shooting Rampage On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Several people are in custody, after a man went on a rampage late Wednesday afternoon on Detroit's west side.

Police say the incident started to unfold near Michigan Avenue and Vinewood, when a man shot an assault weapon at several people and vehicles.

Witnesses were able to get the plate number from the man's car, and police later found it at a house on the 8500 block of Roselawn, near Joy Road.

As the officers approached the house, several individuals ran inside and closed the front door. As a result, police declared the scene as a barricaded gunman situation at 8:05 p.m.

Police waited it out, and the man and four other adults finally surrendered around 10:30 p.m.

One female, 19, and four males, ages 26, 19, 19, and 16, were apprehended, and three weapons were recovered. Police say they're pursuing charges against the man with the weapon, as well as the other four adults.

No injuries were reported. An investigation is ongoing.
