Sleeping Bear Dunes To Expand Trail With $100k Federal Grant
LEELANAU COUNTY (WWJ) - The Sleeping Bear Dunes is picking up a $100,000 federal grant, to expand a trail a little-under five miles.
The money is coming from the U.S. Department of Transportation as part of a larger award totaling $1.6 million in grants to provide better access to some of Michigan's storied landscapes.
The state was also awarded money for the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore to purchase an electric-diesel bus to transport hikers in and out of the campgrounds.
