I-696 Reopens After Overpass Jumper Killed By Cars

WARREN (WWJ) - Police were forced to close I-696 in Warren after someone jumped or fell off the overpass onto the freeway below.

Police say the incident happened just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday on westbound I-696 near Van Dyke Avenue.

According to police, a man was hit by oncoming traffic traveling at speeds around 70 miles per hour.

The man's identity was not immediately released and but he was killed in the incident.

The freeway was closed for almost two hours as police investigated.
