St. Paddy's Shindig Underway At Old Shillelagh

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - St. Patrick's Day isn't until Sunday, but at the Old Shillelagh Tavern in Greektown, they're already celebrating.

Manager Lou Rico says this year they decided to turn the party at the at the long-time Detroit haunt into a three-day festival they're calling "St. Patrick's Weekend Blast."

On Friday there's live music all day and Irish eats including fish and chips and corned beef.

On Saturday, the doors will open at 10:30 a.m.

"We'll have two different bands; two DJ's. We're going to make it like a real festival-style atmosphere tomorrow," Rico told WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting. "There'll be two food trucks Eat Green Zebra and Jacques' Tacos. El Guapo will come in after that."

Saturday party-goers will also find body-painting and a dunk-tank.

Rico said he expects hundreds of people to fill the first and second floors for the traditional St. Patrick's Day celebration on Sunday.

"At 7 a.m., the first and second floor will open -- and at 7:01 on the dot, Billy Dixon and Black Mist will start belting out Irish tunes, Irish drinking songs, classic rock," said Rico. "A lotta fun hootin' and hollerin', beatin' the table. It's always a good time."
