Subway Rolls Out 'Buy One, Get One' Offer

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Have a can of food? Use it to feed a friend Thursday when Subway Restaurants roll out an initiative to feed the hungry.

And there's a little something in it for sandwich fans, too.

With a goal of collecting 30,000 pounds of food throughout Michigan, the chain created this offer: Donate a can of food at any Subway location in Michigan when you stop in to buy a sandwich -- and you'll get a second 6-inch sub for free.

This is the 13th year for the "buy one, get one" food pantry benefit in Michigan; Last year, the initiative collected 15,000 pounds of non-perishable food items.

"We are honored to be able to support our local communities and are excited to be expanding this program into a statewide initiative this year," said Lou Dortch, Subwayof Detroit board member.
