Substitute Teacher Charged In Elementary School Sex Assault

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A Farmington Hills substitute teacher is being held on a $1 million bond, accused in the sexual assault of an elementary school student.

Andrew Montgomery Howell, 58, was arrested earlier this week following an alleged incident that took place during school hours at Hillside Elementary.

Police say an investigation revealed Howell, who has been a substitute teacher for over 25 years, had sexual contact with a female student under the age of 13.

Howell was charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct and at an arraigned in 47th District Court on Friday.  His next court appearance is set for April 5.
