UM Grad's Digital Marketing Firm On The Grow In Troy

TROY -- A digital marketing firm founded by a 2011 University of Michigan graduate is on the move and on the grow.

Trevor George's Blue Wheel Media was born out of what George called his frustration with digital marketing services while running a company he started while still a student, a concert promotion company called EPIC, for Every Person In College.

"There would be a search engine optimization company, but they wouldn't manage your social media," George said. "There would be a social media company, but they wouldn't do content marketing. Then there would be a content marketing company that would write your blog posts, but they wouldn't do SEO. And all these things depend on each other."

So George spent four months attending seminars and getting trained up on SEO, Google Analytics and other online marketing skills, and founded a company that combines those three efforts.

"We were founded in June 2011 and we've grown exponentially since," George said.

Blue Wheel currently has eight employees, and has attracted 21 clients, including well-known names in retail like the House of Marley audio line and the Detroit area's Lover's Lane stores. It is also moving into 4,000 square feet of new space in Troy. The company is also growing, with four full-time job openings on its Web site.

"We have the space and we have the clientele coming," George said. "People move the world, and if you find the right people you can move the world."
