Leyland's Opening Day Outlook, Superstitions, Pre-game Rituals

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) It's not exactly his first time at the rodeo, but does longtime Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland have any longstanding pre-game rituals?

"No, not really, I do probably have some superstitions along the way, but not particularly for Opening Day or anything," Leyland said. "A lot of times, if you get hot, you might use the same pen to make out the line-up card or things like that but I don't know if you call that superstition or convenience, you keep the pen right there."

The Tigers had a big win Friday for Opening Day, running roughshod over the Yankees 8-3 with help from a strong Prince Fielder bat.

So what does Leyland expect from this season?

He sums it up this way: "It's an exciting day and hopefully an exciting season for Tiger fans ... Like I said 'This is a long, long season."
