WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) – A 60-year-old woman is hospitalized in critical condition after she was hit by a car.

West Bloomfield police said the woman was struck by a vehicle driven by another woman who was backing up on Woodrow Wilson, near Middlebelt and Orchard Lake.

Police said the victim was walking to work at a nearby CVS pharmacy when the accident occurred. Her name was not released.

Police said it was not immediately clear why the 42-year-old woman was backing her car down the side street.
