Michiganders Leave For Immigration March In D.C.

DETROIT (WWJ) - Dozens of metro Detroiters are traveling to Washington D.C. for what's being called an historic national immigration march on the Capital Wednesday.

WWJ's Stephanie Davis was in southwest Detroit at the Arab Community Center as a bus load of people left for Washington Tuesday night.

Immigration Bus to DC (SDavis)The group plans to gather with the expected masses for a rally meant to put more pressure on Congress to create a pathway to citizenship for the millions of immigrant families.

Twenty-four-year old Hosway boarded the bus carrying a large American flag. "I have been here for more than 12 years and I consider myself an American and that is why I carry the American flag," he said.

Buses will be traveling from all over Michigan with folks who plan to join the rally - it's expected that about 500 from Michigan will attend.
