Police Search For Suspect In Motel Shooting Death

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police in Detroit are looking for a person of interest following a murder at a motel.

Police say a 21-year old-woman was found around 10 a.m. Saturday in a room at the Corktown Inn, a 120-room hotel on Trumbull about seven block south of old Tigers Stadium. Sgt. Eren Stephens said the woman, who was not identified, was shot to death.

According to police, an unidentified man had been looking for the woman's room before she was killed. Investigators have released a photo of that man, who is sought for questioning in the shooting.

Hotel management declined to comment on the incident or whether they'll increase security measures in the future. Reporting live from the scene, WWJ City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas said the hotel's "security guard" is actually just a dummy with a hat on, placed behind the wheel of a truck parked in front of the business.

Anyone with information on this crime or who can identify the man in the photo is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You can also submit a tip online at www.1800speakup.org, or text "CSM" and your tip to CRIMES (274637).
