Smart Deadbolt With Bluetooth Allows Keyless Smartphone Entry

GRANDVILLE -- First Watch Security, a division of Grandville-based Belwith Products LLC, unveiled the Smart Deadbolt during the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show over the weekend in New Orleans.

First Watch says the Smart Deadbolt is the first-ever elecronic deadbolt lock that works directly with smartphones.

The lock works with phones equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 short-range radio using 128-bit encryption systems. It allows users to operate the deadbolt with the touch of a button, all while the smartphone remains in the user's pocket.

Users with an authorized app on their smartphones called SecuRemote BLE can simply tap an unlock or lock icon on a small panel to unlock or lock the door. The app gives users the ability to change the settings of the Smart Deadbolt, adding, deleting or modifying users, and setting up, selecting, or renaming devices.

The Smart Deadbolt works with all standard door preparations. It installs with only a screwdriver, and it runs for up to two years on just four AA batteries. The Smart Deadbolt comes in two different styles, traditional and contemporary, and is available in four finishes. The deadbolt backset adjusts from 2-3/8 inches to 2-3/4 inches of throw, and has a one-inch brass bolt with a hardened steel rod.
