Tables Turned As Security Guard In Custody After Alleged Theft

TROY (WWJ) - An Oakland Mall security officer is in custody and expected to be formally charged with stealing from store owners he was paid to protect.

"We've got an employee here who allegedly, and that's an important word to use, allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct," said Dominic Hamden, General Counsel for Prudential Security of Taylor.

Prudential Security of Taylor, which employed the guard, has since been dismissed. Hamden described the man as having a clean record, along with a previous military and security background.

"My client usually likes to employing military personal for a reason, they come with good backgrounds, they are accustomed to following directions and staying on task ... but you can not adjust ... for the human factor," said Hamden.

A multiple count warrant is expected to be issued soon against the man, who remains in the custody of Troy police.
