Freighter Runs Aground In Lake St. Clair

GROSSE POINTE (WWJ/AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says a freighter has run aground in Lake St. Clair.

Lt. Justin Westmiller, public affairs officer for U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit, said the Spruceglen became grounded Tuesday evening a little over a mile offshore from the Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe.

The Times Herald of Port Huron reported that the freighter wasn't blocking any lake traffic while it waited for a tugboat.

The Coast Guard said the grounding is under investigation.

No injuries have been reported.
