Detroit Regional Chamber's Policy Conference Kicks Off On Wednesday

MACKINAC ISLAND (WWJ/AP) - A potential presidential candidate and members of Michigan's business and political elite will be on hand this week for the Detroit Regional Chamber's policy conference on Mackinac Island.

More than one thousand people will head north for the annual event, which runs from Wednesday through Friday.

It'll feature speeches and panel discussions about the economy, schools, health care and other issues. The conference also provides forums for politicians hoping to line up support and donations.

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, often mentioned as a possible president candidate in 2016,  will deliver a keynote speech Wednesday.
