Michael And Gina Spehn: Difference Makers In The Community

ROCHESTER (WWJ) - Gina and Michael Spehn could never have imagined how their love story would unfold as both of their spouses died of cancer and each had young children.

The pair met and after a two-year courtship they were married. The two made the decision to help other families that were touched by cancer.

"It doesn't matter whether a parent has cancer or a child has cancer, we come along side these families and we try to sustain them, primarily financially, but also emotionally," Gina said.

Since 2007 The New Day Foundation has raised millions of dollars to benefit families struggling with the effects of cancer.

"An organization like ours is vitally necessary in order to help sustain these families and keep them in their homes - keep the lights turned on," she said.
