Early Morning Fire At Detroit Strip Mall

DETROIT (WWJ) - A fire at a Detroit strip mall has cost dozens of people their jobs.

The smell of smoke thickened the air around Telegraph and Seven Mile near the Glory Supermarket and Family Dollar that caught on fire Thursday morning.

"For our understanding, from the fire department people, they said that someone put some fire in a basket and pushed it towards the store and then lit the whole store," says store manager Marvick Kashat.

Kashat says everybody got out okay including the two stock employees that were inside. No firefighters were injured. He says about thirty employees are going to be without a job until the store is rebuilt.

"We wish we're going to be getting our jobs back again..." says Kashat, "We're going to be without jobs, God knows how long."
