Good Samaritan Killed After Stopping To Help At Crash

KENTWOOD (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a good Samaritan who stopped to help after a two-vehicle crash in West Michigan was struck and killed by one of the vehicles involved.

Details of the Thursday afternoon crash in Kentwood, including how the elderly driver of a pickup truck hit the woman, weren't immediately clear.

Kentwood Police Chief Tom Hillen told The Grand Rapids Press that the woman was apparently dragged by the pickup. Her name wasn't immediately released.

The initial collision involved a sport utility vehicle and the pickup. It wasn't immediately clear why the pickup driver began moving again after the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and prosecutors will review the case. It's unclear if the pickup driver will face any charges.
