Freedom Hill Reopens With Full Line-Up For 2013

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - A big night Tuesday in Sterling Heights as a popular concert venue reopens after being shut down for three years.

Huey Lewis and the News took the stage at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre  for the first concert at the venue in several years. A host of local dignitaries from several counties on hand for the event reports WWJ's Sandra McNeill.

Macomb and Oakland county executives Mark Hackel and L. Brooks Patterson showed up for a special pre-show party and ribbon cutting.

Freedom Hill closed amid financial issues and residential complaints about the noise just a few years ago.

The venue responded by making capital improvements to the tune of $1 million to the 7,200-seat.

The highlight of this year's festival Lady Antebellum coming up on June 13 and they'll hold the Stars and Stripes festival here as well.
