Opening Statements In Cipriano Murder Trial Could Begin Monday

PONTIAC, Mich. (WWJ) - Opening statements could begin Monday afternoon for the trial of Tucker Cipriano and Mitchell Young, in last year's beating death of Cipriano's father.

WWJ's Ron Dewey reports that jury selection for Young is expected to conclude today, but it hasn't been an easy process to seat two juries for each of the defendants on the same trial.

A large number of prospective jurors had been excused for their knowledge of the case or ties with the Cipriano family. Some of the jurors broke down on the stand after hearing graphic details of the crime.

During opening statements, prosecutors will walk the court through what they say was a minutes-long rampage where Tucker Cipriano's father, Bob Cipriano, was bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat while Tucker Cipriano and Young were high on synthetic marijuana. The trial is expected to last two to three weeks.
