$250k In Scholarships Being Offered By Specs Howard

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Specs Howard School of Media Arts is offering a quarter of a million dollars in scholarships to Michigan workers. School President Lisa Zahodne says the money is available to those looking to be trained in technology-driven courses including Broadcast Media Arts, Graphic Design, and Digital Media Arts.

"We were hearing so many corporations that have a need now for media training. it's not just broadcast any more. Every company has a website that they have to provide content to. And we just had a lot of people feeling that they weren't keeping up with the changing technology because it's changing so rapidly. So we felt this is our way to give back. What we feel, we help Michigan, we help everyone," said Zahodne.

The fifty $5,000 scholarships are being awarded on first-come first serve basis.

"To be eligible, you have to be an employee of a company operating in the state of Michigan. And the employee must complete an application, get a letter of recommendation from their employer, and they must also write a letter of request stating how they would use the training," said Zahodne.
