Family Fight Over TV Turns Fatal

UPDATE (6/27): No Bond For Man Charged In TV Argument Murder

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac man was killed in what authorities say was a fight over control of the television set.

When Oakland County Sheriff's deputies got to the Phoenix Place Apartments in Pontiac on Woodward, early Monday morning, the 45-year-old
man was doing CPR on his 57-year-old uncle.

Deputies said a preliminary investigation shows the two were arguing about the TV when things escalated.  That's when they say a fist fight broke out, ending when the younger man choked his uncle until he lost consciousness.

The alleged assailant dialed 911 and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, on the 47000 block of Woodward Ave., when EMS arrived.

The suspect was arrested and remained in custody at the Oakland County Jail later Monday.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on the uncle.

Neither man's name was not immediately released.
