Under The Dome premiered to CBS audiences Monday night with a record-breaking number of viewers – 13.14 million – making it the most-watched summer drama premiere on any network since 1992.

The miniseries also debuted with top rankings in almost every demographic against Monday night’s 10pm – 11pm regularly scheduled programming in the local Metro Detroit market.

The show, which is based on Stephen King’s 2009 bestselling novel Under The Dome, takes place in a small New England town that was suddenly and inexplicably encased within an enormous, indestructible, but invisible dome. Chaos ensues as the towns people must figure out where the dome came from, how long it will be there, and how they’re going to live in this new, apocalyptic-like world.
