Boating Accident On Sylvan Lake Kills 1, Injures 2 Other Siblings

KEEGO HARBOR (WWJ) - A fun day on the water turned to tragedy Sunday on Sylvan Lake in Keego Harbor after an 11-year-old is killed. Two other children ranging in age from 5 to 14, were also injured when a boat apparently hit the inner tube the children were in or the rope that was pulling them.

Cindee Rosenthal saw the accident from her deck.

"I saw the wave runner was pulling a tube and it had three children on it and it went past the house and shortly behind it was a Mastercraft going very fast and all of a sudden you hear screaming and you look over and the tubers, which were three children with life jackets, were floating in the water ... not moving," said Rosenthal.

Rosenthal says boaters rushed to help.

Officials say that at least one of the victims was given CPR; the three children were rushed to a Pontiac hospital and then two of the children were flown to a University of Michigan hospital.
