DETROIT (WWJ) With temperatures set to scorch, metro Detroiters are making plans to stay cool Wednesday.

They’re prepared for the heat.

It’s also Metro Detroit Youth Day on the island, with about 30,000 young visitors expected. It makes it a day Belle Isle will have a large crowd of both old and young people.
Clifton Webb was out running before the sun rose, saying he wanted to get in his 5 miles prior to the heat really kicking in. “It’s extremely hard,” he said, laughing, and adding that he had to get it done early. “Running directly in the sun is just like putting a person on your back.”
