W. Bloomfield Woman Killed In Single Car Crash In Pittsfield Twp.

PITTSFIELD (WWJ) -  A West Bloomfield woman is dead, the victim of a deadly crash on I-94 in Pittsfield Township.

Police responded to a report of a one car crash on west bound I-94 near Ellsworth Road, in Washtenaw County, Friday just after 10 a.m.

Officials tell WWJ a 45-year-old, woman, from West Bloomfield, was traveling on I-94 in the right lane when the she began to brake suddenly and swerved to the right to avoid a rear end collision.

The driver lost control of her vehicle, a 1997 Cherokee, and ran off I-94 onto the right shoulder. The Cherokee flipped over multiple times and came to rest in the middle of west bound I-94.

The driver and her 45-year old male passenger, from Detroit, were transported by Huron Valley Ambulance, to the University of Michigan Hospital.

The woman was pronounced dead at the University of Michigan Hospital.

The male passenger was treated at the University of Michigan Hospital for non life threatening injuries.

The names of the driver and passenger are being withheld pending notification of family.
