WWJ's Tom Jordan To Moderate Detroit Mayoral Debates

DETROIT (WWJ) Morning drive co-anchor Tom Jordan will moderate a live debate between Detroit's mayoral candidates 8-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30.

Co-sponsored by WWJ, the debate will air live on WADL TV 38, and will be livestreamed on CBSDetroit.com.

The debate and a successive one at the end of October will happen at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.

"We are happy to partner with WADL TV 38 on what promises to be two very lively and important debates which will likely help shape the outcome of the election," said WWJ program and news director Rob Davidek.

All major candidates including Mike Duggan, Benny Napoleon, Krystal Crittendon, Lisa Howze and Tom Barrow have been invited to participate in the first debate, with the two finalists squaring off in the second debate.

With Jordan  moderating, the panel will consist of Detroit News Editorial Page Editor Nolan Finley, Detroit Free Press Editorial Page Editor Stephen Henderson, and Debbie Dingell, president of d2 Strategies.

Finley said: "This will be one of the more unusual and important mayoral elections in recent Detroit history, and I am happy to be a part of helping Detroiters make an informed choice."
