Q'vive, Schoolcraft College Offer New PMP Exam Shift Course

WIXOM (WWJ) -- Schoolcraft College's continuing education and professional development department is continuing its successful partnership with Q'vive LLC, a local leader in innovation strategy and training to offer PMP Exam Shift, a new course to prepare students for the updated PMP and CAPM exams.

"There are many project managers who have studied for the exam based on PMBOK Guide Fourth Edition, who now have to become familiar with the new Fifth Edition to take the exam," said Eric van der Meulen, president of Q'vive. "The PMP Exam Shift course will only be offered this fall. It is a short, condensed, and intensive review, highlighting the differences between the two PMBOK Guide editions, with an emphasis on discussion of exam questions. We are thrilled to be able to offer this course, and are expecting to see many more pass the exam."

The Project Management Institute published the new PMBOK® Guide–Fifth Edition in January, 2013. The update to the PMP exam is effective on July 31, 2013, while the CAPM exam was updated on July 1.

The Project Management Essentials & Exam Preparation course (Mondays September 23 - November 25 from 6 PM to 9:40 PM) and PMP Exam Shift course (Thursdays September 26 - October 17 from 6-9 PM) are aligned with the new PMBOK Guide–Fifth Edition.

Potential students are invited to attend a free informational session on Monday, Sept. 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Biomedical Technology Center, Room 170, at Schoolcraft College in Livonia.

According to the Project Management Institute, there are more than 500,000 PMI credential holders around the world and in every industry, from healthcare, telecommunications and finance to IT and construction. More and more project management related jobs in today's world require PMP certification; and in today's competitive job market, becoming PMP certified may significantly increase the chances of getting a job. According to a 2007 PricewaterhouseCoopers survey, 80 percent of high-performing projects use a credentialed project manager.
