DTE Gets More Transport, Gathering Agreements On Bluestone System

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Subsidiaries of DTE Energy Co. and Southwestern Energy Co. signed agreements last week to significantly expand their relationship centered on the Bluestone Pipeline and its in-field gathering system.

Said DTE Gas Storage and Pipeline President Pete Cianci: "Southwestern is a first-class producer with world-class natural gas reserves. This additional commitment to Bluestone affirms the high quality of the natural gas reserves in Susquehanna County, which recently became the highest producing county in Pennsylvania."

The agreement will increase Southwestern's firm transportation capacity on Bluestone. Additionally, the scope of DTE Energy's gathering activities on behalf of Southwestern are increasing in Susquehanna County.

The Bluestone Pipeline, which went into service late last year, is expected to reach its single direction capacity of approximately 300,000 decatherms per day near the end of this year, well ahead of original projections. A decatherm is equivalent to one million BTU of heat energy in gas.

The 44.5 mile Bluestone Pipeline can transport up to 600,000 Dth/day combined to both the Millennium Pipeline in Broome County, N.Y. and the Tennessee Gas Pipeline in Susquehanna County, Pa. The Bluestone Pipeline can be easily expanded with the addition of compression.
