Alleged Kid Rock Gate Crasher To Appear In Court

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 43-year-old man is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, charged in connection with a breaking and entering incident at the home of musician Kid Rock.

Oakland County Sheriff's officials said two separate tips from the public led to the Independence Township man's arrest on Sunday.

Security footage from the 42-year-old singer's Clarkston-area home showed someone ramming the front gate, last Wednesday afternoon; and then trying, without success, to break into the house.

Authorities confiscated the suspect's 1994 Ford Club Wagon van which they say was used in commission of the crime.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard said the man will likely face multiple charges.

"He damaged severely some property, obviously, when he was breaking down the gate to get in so he's got malicious destruction of property or damage to property. He's got an attempt of home invasion; he's got a variety of potential charges," said Bouchard.

Kid Rock offered a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.

"Thank God I was not on the property at the time of this attempted break in. I am an avid hunter and marksman and I will not hesitate to shoot anyone who has myself or family in fear for our lives," Kid Rock said in a statement posted on his website.

"I take the invasion of my personal space very seriously regardless of who you are and YES, I do profile people. I am currently profiling any balding white male on crutches driving a white creeper van," he added.

A video arraignment is set for late Tuesday morning in 52-2 District Court. The suspect is being held at the Oakland County Jail.
