Michigan St. Begins Spartan Stadium Renovation

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University has started a $24.5 million Spartan Stadium renovation that's scheduled to be wrapped up next July.

MLive.com reports (http://bit.ly/13Lkr70 ) crews broke ground about two weeks ago on the East Lansing school's project. They've largely focused on foundation work and are going to be getting sewer and water lines in place along with a flood-retention basin.

Plans call for a two-level building at the football stadium's north end, including locker rooms, an equipment room and a media center. Restrooms and concession stands, as well as a recruiting room for sports, also are planned as part of the project.

The project is being funded by donations and MSU athletic department funds.
