Detroit Native Says Charles Pugh Is In New York City

DETROIT (WWJ) - Is former Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh in New York?

According to website Jalopnik.com, he is.

Two months ago it was Seattle ... this time it appears to be New York City.

Aaron Foley, a writer for Jalopnik, tells WWJ that a reliable source of his who is also a Detroit native, spotted Pugh at a Harlem restaurant eating alone.

"I think the thing that struck me was ... he looked kind of miserable and I wonder if it's because he's been gone so long amidst all of the allegations ... or the fact that people are worried about him. I'm not exactly sure," said Foley.

The former broadcaster and Detroit City Council President has been off the radar since June.

"They said they didn't want to disturb him, they didn't want to take any pictures of him but they knew that it was him," he added. "They stopped into a West Indian-Caribbean place called Native and they looked up and they saw Charles Pugh there."

Foley says that his source was not the only one to see Pugh that night. He claims others confirm that Pugh was at that Harlem restaurant.

The source said Pugh looked depressed.

Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr stripped Pugh of his duties and salary because of his disappearance. Pugh has been missing since June after allegations of misconduct were made against him with a then-minor.
