Casting Call For New TV Game Show

BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) - It could be your big chance to be on TV. During this weekend's Woodward Dream Cruise, a new national game show will be looking for contestants.

"Let's Ask America" is holding a casting call in downtown Birmingham on Saturday.

Host Kevin Pereira says the show asks "Family Feud" type questions but with a twist: that contestants appear by computer camera from their own homes.

He said they're looking for people who are opinionated.

"If you irritate other people, or if you are easily irritated by other people and can explain why," Pereira told WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeil. "Either one works totally well."

"We want people who are energetic; who are excited," he added.

An example of a question contestants might be asked: "Emotional eating or emotional tweeting. What did single women say is more dangerous after a bad breakup?"  Then answer, Pereira said, is "eating."

The show has a twist: Contestants play from the comfort of their own homes.

"We had some people in Hawaii when they were on, like, their back porch, with animals roaming in the background

They even had one contestant who appeared from the bathroom.

"Everything was kept clean and pretty," Pereira said. "It was actually a very lovely, huge bathroom. Someone had a bunch of candles lit."

The casting is going on between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday in a tent at Woodward and Maple. The show will air this fall on WXYZ-TV Channel 7.
