Collector Gets More Than Expected During Dive In Lake St. Clair

PORT HURON (WWJ) - A diver who looks for collectibles has come up with a dandy in Lake St. Clair. A vintage, possibly World War I-era bomb was discovered and brought to the Port Huron Police Department.

"Speaking with the MSP bomb squad it does appear that it does have some vintage to it based on the fact that the newer stuff is a lot heavier," said Port Huron Sgt. David Seghi. "Obviously, there was nothing inside other than sand but the sergeant I spoke with at MSP did say possibly that it could be from that early."

"It was found to be a training device by the MSP bomb squad - so they double checked it, photographed it, x-rayed it to make sure it was an inert device," he added.

Sgt. Seghi says since the bomb was deemed safe, it was given back to the diver who found it.
