Sparked by the election manifesto of the opposition party CDU, Germany currently debates whether raising the Mehrwertsteuer (VAT) would in fact promote economic growth or if it would have the opposite effect by hurting families and low-income households. WATERFORD (WWJ) – Law enforcement cooperation nets a repeat thief.
A thief that was targeting shoppers has turned herself in. The thief’s gimmick was waiting for shoppers to leave their shopping cart unattended and then taking the cart as if it were her own before snatching purses, credit cards and money.
Tips from the public helped identify the suspect as Deborah Simmons. Officers had been searching areas of Pontiac, Auburn Hills and Waterford where she had been observed on multiple occasions.
Ms. Simmons appeared at the Waterford Police Department Saturday morning with her attorney and turned herself in. She will be arraigned at the Oakland County Circuit Court Sunday.
