Man Found Dead At Oakland County Motel

FERNDALE (WWJ) - Oakland County Sheriff's officials say a man has been found dead in a motel room.

The 61-year-old was found just outside the bathroom in a room at the Royal Inn Motel on the 10,000-block of W. 8 Mile Road in Ferndale.

Reports of a strong odor from the room sent police to the motel Sunday night. According to the manager, the victim — a Royal Oak Township resident — had not been seen or heard from for about four days.

There appears at this time to be no signs of foul play.

As an investigation continues, the Oakland County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine a cause of death.

The man's name was not immediately released. Authorities on Monday were attempting to contact his family.
