Author's Latest 1910s Detroit-Set Novel Coming Out

DETROIT (AP) - The fourth novel in Michigan author D.E. Johnson's 1910s Detroit series is being released.

"Detroit Shuffle" is out Tuesday. It's a follow-up to the Kalamazoo-area resident's previous works, "The Detroit Electric Scheme," "Motor City Shakedown" and "Detroit Breakdown."

"Detroit Shuffle" again features auto company scion Will Anderson. This time, he gets caught up in the political turmoil over women's suffrage.

Johnson has his own history in the car industry. His grandfather was the vice president of Checker Motors, beginning work with the company in 1924.

D.E. Johnson graduated from Central Michigan University and owned a business in Grand Rapids for years.
