Woman Says She Was Attacked By Crazed Detroit Bus Driver

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit Department of Transportation bus rider says she was attacked by an out-of-control bus driver.

Jeanne Dorado, who recently moved to Detroit, was riding the bus last week, for the first time, when she asked her driver how far down Woodward Ave. the bus was going.

That's when the driver allegedly snapped, and cussed her out.

"He was like, 'B—, I'm the mother f— Mack bus,'" witness Siscily Ware told TV station WDIV.

Dorado said the DDOT driver then threatened to drop her off at the wrong stop.

"He was saying that he was going to take me on the ride of my life and then drop my b— ass on the east side, which being new I don't even know what that means," Dorado told WDIV.

The driver allegedly then refused to let Dorado get off the bus.

After arriving at Mack and St. Antoine, Dorado said the bus driver got out of his seat, while the bus was somehow still moving, and slapped her.

Said Dorado, "And he kept swinging and somebody standing closer to him at the front of the bus grabbed him."

She's pressing charges and won't ride the bus anymore. Dorado said she plans to get a ride with co-workers for the time being, until she buys a car.

There's no word on if bus driver has been disciplined. DDOT isn't commenting — telling WWJ to call the Detroit mayor's office. There's been no response yet from Dave Bing.

WWJ is waiting on a call back from Detroit police about possible charges.

This isn't the first incident involving violence between a driver and passenger on a Detroit bus.

In a video recently posted to YouTube, a driver is seen fighting with a passenger after the woman's transfer card reportedly malfunctioned. In 2011, 100 DDOT bus drivers walked off the job — scared for their lives — after several incidents including one in which a driver was beaten by a group of teens.
