DETROIT (WWJ) – He’s a high-end clothing designer from Detroit, and now a cancer survivor  – who is using his fashion power to help others battling the disease.

Mark England was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer earlier this year and says he understands what people face when fighting the disease. That has led to a partnership with Karmanos Cancer Institute and the two hosting a big fundraising event, Fashion Fights Cancer on September 28.

“(We are) … fundraising to raise money for research, raise money for people who can’t afford their medical bills, pretty much across the board,” England tells WWJ’s Stephanie Davis.

England who is known across the world for his Mark England Collection, with a store in the Renaissance Center, says he is still going through treatments and he is expected to fully recover.

The Fashion show will also feature Detroit artists Dwele and K-Jon.
