Report: 'Breaking Bad' Creator To Move On To CBS Show Featuring Battle Creek

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) As fans wait with baited breath for the final episode of dark drama "Breaking Bad" this Sunday, what's next for its much-hyped creator?

The New York Times reported that creator Vince Gilligan inked a deal to launch a new series on CBS featuring Battle Creek, Mich. The show is reportedly a police drama Gilligan conceived 10 years ago, before "Breaking Bad."

"One (of the cops) is a trusting naïf, the other a cynic who relies on guile and deception. They find themselves in competition with an F.B.I. agent whom they see as the epitome of a crime-fighter, though he is far from that," the Times wrote about the show's premise.

The crime-fighting duo will reportedly be charged with the task of cleaning up rough and tumble Battle Creek, a suburb about 100 miles west of Detroit and 60 miles south of Lansing, the state capital.

The show will be produced by David Shore, the former producer of "House." CBS has guaranteed it will produce 13 episodes, foregoing the usual pilot process. No one has yet been cast.
