ORION TWP. (WWJ) – Police say a 48-year-old optometrist was arrested for indecent exposure after an incident with a female patient at his Orion Township office.

Robert Emmett Deck III was given a $10,000 personal bond after being arraigned Wednesday on the two-year misdemeanor charge in the 52-3 District Court.

Police said Deck’s arrest stems from an Aug. 13 incident that occurred during the 33-year-old victim’s schedule appointment at Eye Health Professionals Indianwood Road in Orion Township.

According to police, Deck lured the woman to his personal office by requesting her to come back after she put her new contacts in. When the woman walked through the door, she allegedly witnessed Deck masturbating.

The victim, who suspected something wasn’t right, was able to record audio of the incident with her iPhone, police said, which she turned over to investigators.

“When you go to visit a professional office such as a doctor, the last thing you literally expect to see is this. This predatory behavior is disgusting and we look forward to holding this person accountable,” Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said.

Bouchard said Deck’s actions have had a devastating effect on the victim.

“She feels very violated,” Bouchard told WWJ’s Sandra McNeil. “She actually released a statement that she’d like her identity to remain unknown. ‘I consider this to be an assault, and I’m under the care of a therapist, and I’ve been put on medication for depression and anxiety.'”
