2 Young Girls Escape Attempted Abduction In Pontiac

PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Oakland County Sheriff's office is asking for tips to help find the suspect of a daring attempted abduction in Pontiac.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard says two girls, 6 and 8, were playing outside their home on Fourth Street near Walton Friday evening -- when a man pulled into the driveway.

"Grabbed the one girl by her arm, and forced her into the vehicle and pushed her down behind the driver's seat to the floor, and turned around and grabbed the second girl and forced her into the back seat as well. But as he was trying to jump in the front seat to drive away, the one girl, very heads up, opened the rear door and they jumped out and ran," said Bouchard.

Bouchard says neighbors heard the screaming and were able to describe the vehicle -- a gray or silver four-door sedan.

He says the girls gave a great description of the light-skinned black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks or braids, and smelled heavily of cigarettes.

The young girls noted that the man had some gray hairs in his braids/dreadlocks. They also noticed a pack of Newport cigarettes on the floor of the car. The man was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans and had a ring on one of the fingers of his left hand.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800 SPEAK UP.
