Event Notices From Oct. 4-6

UM Sets Annual IT Security Event: SUMIT 13, the University of Michigan's annual IT security event, will be held at the Rackham Auditorium on the UM central campus from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. The event is free and open to the public. The agenda includes sessions on smartphones, hacking, remote access tools, and medical device security. Speakers include Jason Haddix, director of penetration testing at HP, Dawn Isabel, mobile security consultant at HP, security consultant Anthony J. Bonkoski, Nate Anderson, deputy editor of Ars Technica, Stanford University computer science Ph.D. student Jonathan Mayer, Matt Bing, malware analyst at Arbor Networks, David Schuetz, senior consultant at Intrepidus Group, Martin Fisher, director of information security for WellStar Health System Inc., and Denis Foo Kune, visiting scholar at the University of Michigan.
