Man Fatally Shot Outside Detroit Bank

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say a man in his 20's is dead after a shooting in the parking lot of a bank along Woodward Avenue.

The incident happened early Friday morning at the Chase Bank branch on Woodward and Englewood, next to the Normandie Hotel on the city's west side.

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Vickie Thomas said the back window of victim's Jeep Liberty was shot out, with bullet casing markers lining the ground. Police said the victim, who wasn't immediately identified, was shot multiple times.

According to reports, the victim was shot after apparently getting into an argument with another person in the vehicle. Police said the man was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

In addition to the victim's SUV, police said a GMC Yukon and Ford Fusion were towed away, although they're not sure if those other vehicles are connected to the crime.

So far, police have not identified any suspects. Police are hoping surveillance footage from the bank can shed some light on their investigation.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600.
