Nude Photo Shoot At Former Golf Course Raises Eyebrows

MARION TWP. (WWJ/AP) - The use of a former Livingston County golf course for a photo shoot that included nude models is raising some eyebrows in the area.

On Saturday, nearly 40 models and photographers gathered for a day of what organizers called "portfolio building" at the former site of Marion Oaks Golf Course in Marion Township, about 45 miles northwest of Detroit.

Event organizer Rebecca Tremble told the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus that the Lansing Exposure Group Shoot seeks to help up-and-coming models network with photographers in a "safe environment."

Tremble said not all of the models posed nude and those that did shot in areas not visible to the public.

"We don't allow pornography," she said. "There isn't any exotic nudity... It's all done in a classical or artistic manner."

Howell-area resident Roland Tomlin learned of the shoot and in an email to the newspaper, asked about whether the township knew what was going on at the property.

Tremble said the group got the OK from the property's owner, but Township Supervisor Robert Hanvey said the municipality wasn't aware of the shoot.

"Our concern would be impact in the neighborhood, traffic issues or noise," Hanvey told the newspaper. "In this situation, I don't know if there would be much of an impact."
