SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Police believe a gunman caught on camera committing another crime may be responsible for a recent armed robbery at a Southfield dollar store.

Southfield Police Lieutenant Nick Loussia says the man who entered an 8 Mile Road Dollar Tree Monday night, pointed a handgun and demanded cash, was wearing a Halloween mask.  At some point during the robbery, Loussia says the thief shot the clerk in the leg.

Bases on similarities between the crimes, police believe the suspect seen in security camera images they're releasing to the public may be the person responsible for the Southfield robbery and shooting, as well as two recent incidents in Detroit.

The gunman at the Dollar Tree was wearing a black zip-up hoodie and khaki pants. His face was covered by the mask. In one of two Detroit robberies, however, the suspect's face was exposed.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the security photos or who has any information about the Dollar Tree robbery is asked to call the Southfield Police Department at 248-796-5500.

The Dollar Tree clerk remained hospitalized, Friday, with serious injuries. His name has not been released.
