Pet Supplies Plus Hosts National Adopt-A-Pet Weekend

LIVONIA (WWJ) - If you're looking to add a new furry friend to your family, you're in luck!

Pet Supplies Plus is teaming up with local animal shelters in Michigan and throughout the nation to host a monumental Adopt-a-Pet Weekend on October 19-20.

Coinciding with National Pet Adoption Month and its annual October Donation Drive, the goal of Adopt-a-Pet Weekend is to place countless deserving pets with forever homes.

According to the Humane Society, approximately 8 million stray and unwanted animals are taken in by shelters across the country each year. Tragically, about 3.7 million are put down because good homes cannot be found.

Understanding that it was in position to help combat this heartbreak on a national scale, executives with Pet Supplies Plus set forth to raise awareness and badly-needed funds for various rescue groups.

Here's how Adopt-a-Pet Weekend works: Participating Pet Supplies Plus stores will individually partner with a local animal rescue group. Animals available for adoption include dogs and cats.
