6 Arrested In Pharmacy Robbery Spree

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are investigating a trio of pharmacy robberies.

Investigators say a group of seven suspects, wearing masks and gloves, broke into two different stores — one in Orion Township and the other in Independence Township — and then were caught in the act of breaking into the third in Auburn Hills.

The cops gave chase, but the pursuits ended it on I-75 near 12 Mile. Police said the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and Oxycontin, a narcotic prescription pain reliever.

Then, yet another pharmacy was robbed in Detroit on the city's east side.

Later, a tracking device that was included in a money bag helped police track and locate one of the suspects, who was reportedly hiding in the basement of the house on Fenelon Street and 7 Mile Road.

Two other suspects were located shortly after, hiding in a house just a few blocks over on Healy Avenue.

Police were ready and additional suspects were apprehended at the scene.

The suspects in custody Thursday afternoon included one black female and five black males.

Police think all of the robberies are related.

One of more suspects may still be at large.
