Cornerstone University Wants To 'Opt Out' Of Birth Control Provision Citing Religious Status

DETROIT (WWJ) - Cornerstone University is one of the latest in a string of colleges and universities to argue that they should not have to comply with the contraception provision under the federal health care law.

The law requires that most employers provide insurance that covers contraception for free, which includes the morning-after pill.

Cornerstone University calls itself a "religious higher education institution " and believes it should be exempt.

The University could face fines for noncompliance.
