Great Lakes Tech Showcase Coming To Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -- More than 100 tech companies from 26 states will display their innovations at the Great Lakes Technology Showcase next week. The event is an annual joint conference of the Telecommunications Association of Michigan and the Ohio Telecom Association.

The event will take place from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 and 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.

Participants include IT specialists and broadband providers.

The opening keynote, on managing your business like an entrepreneur, will be given by Detroit Venture Partners CEO Josh Linkner, founder of ePrize. There will also be breakout sessions, including creating and implementing information security plans and medical technology opportunities, and an exhibiton of the latest innovations in broadband and cloud computing technologies.

Gerald Moore, district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will close the conference by providing attendees with an overview of the Affordable Care Act and the impact it will have on employers and employees. Moore will also take questions from attendees who have specific issues related to the ACA they'd like to discuss.
